Grier Heights Open House
Join Levine Museum of the New South and Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for a free open house on February 17, celebrating our traveling exhibition Grier Heights: Community is Family.
This traveling exhibition highlights the history and tenacity of Grier Heights, one of Charlotte’s first independent Black communities! Learn about pioneers like Sam Billings and Arthur S. Grier, who laid the groundwork for this thriving community, the historic Billingsville School, and more.
Listen to engaging new interviews of former and current residents as they reflect on Grier Height’s community heroes, the role of women, their favorite memories, traditions, and more.
Stop by to mix and mingle with our Grier Heights storytellers, community, and Levine Museum staff as we celebrate Black History Month through the voices and reflections of the Grier Heights community.
Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free, and registration is not required.
