In December 2023, we hosted a round-table dialogue about the importance of preserving our community stories and local histories, best practices to collect stories, and what challenges sometimes stand in the way. Panelists Dr. Stacey Brown, Karen Sutton, and Franky Abbott shared their experiences on preserving stories such as the Grier Heights community, insights on how to get started and help others stay connected to and remember their history.

We discussed the best ways and practices to tell Charlotte’s stories, what communities in Charlotte are at the most risk of losing their history, what resources and collaborations you should consider in preserving stories/history, and more!
